Send Google Docs Documents Directly as Emails with Gmail

On a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, you can use the Google Docs website itself to email someone a document. This will send your document as an attachment via Gmail.

First, open any web browser on your computer and launch the Google Docs page. Next, select the document that you want to send as an email.

On the document’s edit screen, navigate to the menu bar area and select File > Email > Email This File .

Immediately, the ” Email This File ” window (send this file via Email) will appear. Here you can specify options for the email that will contain your Google document as an attachment. Here’s what each option means:

  • Send Yourself a Copy : Enable this option if you want to receive a copy of the email to be sent.
  • To ( To ): Enter the recipient’s email address in this field. This is the person who will receive your Google Docs document.
  • Subject : Enter a subject for the email containing your Google Docs document. By default, the document name will be taken as the title, but you can change it if you want.
  • Message : Enter a message that you want to send with your document.
  • Don’t Attach. Include Content in the Email : If you enable this option, Google Docs will embed the content of your document in the email itself instead of attaching the document as an attachment. This is useful when the recipient cannot download the attachment for some reason, but is not recommended as it can cause problems with the document’s font formatting.
  • PDF : Choose the format in which your Google Docs document will be emailed. Available options include PDF, RTF, Open Document, HTML, Microsoft Word, and Plain Text.

To email the document, click the “ Send ” button at the bottom of the window.

The email with the Google Docs document as an attachment has now been sent. Recipients simply open their inbox to download the file. Very handy!

Send Google Docs documents directly as email with another email client

If you want to use an email service other than Gmail to send Google Docs documents, first download the document file to your device. Then, attach the file to the email in the email client you want to use.

To do so, first open the document you want to submit on the Google Docs page. On the edit screen, select File > Download. Then select the file type you want to download.

The “ Save ” window will open, allowing you to download your Google Docs document file. In this window, choose a folder to save your file, enter a name for the file and click “ Save ”.

This document file is now saved locally on your computer, in the selected format.

To send this Google document to someone, simply compose a new email in the email client you use, attach the document file to the email, and send it.

Hope you are succesful.
