Will Nvidia RTX 4060 Consume more power than RTX 3070? With the release of Nvidia’s next-generation RTX 4000 (Ada Lovelace) series looming closer, the rumor mill is buzzing with potential specs and delivery dates. In the case of the former, one reliable source claims that even the mid-range RTX 4060 will have high power requirements, outperforming the current-gen RTX 3070.

Regular leaker Kopite7kimi claims that the RTX 4060 has a greater TDP than the RTX 3070. He didn’t specify the future card’s power consumption, but the Ampere product’s Founders Edition consumes 220W, while some overclocked AIB variants can consume 250W.

For an xx60 series product, a TDP of 250W or higher would be a significant leap. The RTX 3060 and GTX 760 (both 170W) were the previous most power-hungry cards in the series, followed by the RTX 2060 (160W), then the GTX 1060 and GTX 960. (both 120W). That doesn’t include the RTX 3060 Ti, which draws 200 watts.

According to reports, the RTX 4090 will feature a 600W TBP (total board power), with a flagship RTX 4090 Ti pushing that to over 800W. If that’s the case, and it’s starting to seem that way, a mid-tier RTX 4060 card capable of 350W isn’t out of the question.

New release dates for the RTX 4000-series cards have surfaced elsewhere in the world of RTX 4000-series speculations. The RTX 4090 was expected to be released first, in August, with the RTX 4080 following a few weeks later, maybe in the same month. The RTX 4070 would then be released in September.

According to the latest speculations, the RTX 4090 will be released in October, followed by the RTX 4080 in November, the RTX 4070 in December, and the RTX 4060 in January 2023.
