YouTube Music officially rolls out podcasts for listeners in the US. YouTube Music has announced the addition of podcasts to its platform in the United States, available on Android, iOS, and the web.

The new feature allows users to watch podcasts on the main YouTube app and continue listening to YouTube Music.

All users can listen to podcasts on-demand, offline, in the background, while casting, and switch between audio and video versions on YouTube Music.

Unlike the premium subscription required for some music features, YouTube Music’s podcast listening experience is accessible to all users. The company plans to make podcasts available to users outside the US soon.

YouTube Music’s Home tab now includes a “Podcasts” tab that leads users to a dedicated feed displaying favorite podcasts and recommended episodes.

Creators are advised to upload a video with a static image or use audiograms or dynamic video formats for audio-only podcasts.

Soon, creators will be able to upload their audio podcasts via RSS feeds to both YouTube and YouTube Music.

According to reports, YouTube is not seeking to sign exclusive deals with podcasters as Spotify has done.

Instead, YouTube aims to merge the experience of listening to podcasts on video and audio.
